Privacy
On your phone, not on our servers.
Intelligence Simplified, LLC ("we," "us") publishes Hamata for Android. Package name: app.hamata.android. This page was last updated October 9, 2026.
Where mail is processed
Hamata is a Gmail client for organizing a large inbox on your phone. After you sign in with Google, Hamata downloads message headers, and message bodies when you open a thread, to a local index on your device so you can group mail by sender, subject, or time and take bulk actions such as archive or trash. Processing for filter and bulk triage happens on the device. Hamata does not operate a mail server that stores mail, tokens, or sender graphs. The phone talks to Google (Gmail API and Google sign-in) over HTTPS, not to an Intelligence Simplified backend for mail content.
Google user data we access
With your consent, Hamata accesses the following Google user data. Your Google password never enters the app. Hamata does not keep a separate Hamata account. The Gmail permission is scope gmail.modify (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify), together with OpenID email and profile scopes.
- Account email. Google Identity services provide the signed-in account email so Hamata can call the Gmail API on your behalf. The email is stored in encrypted storage on your device.
- OAuth tokens, encrypted on device. Access tokens from Sign in with Google are stored in encrypted storage on the device and are used only to call Google APIs for actions you request.
- Gmail headers and metadata. Hamata reads From, Subject, Date, labels, and size to build the on-device index.
- Message bodies when a thread is opened. Hamata fetches a message body when you open a thread. That content is stored and processed locally for triage.
- Optional on-device contacts, if granted. If you grant contacts permission, Hamata may read contacts on the device only to match display names or avatars in the UI. Contact data is not uploaded to an Intelligence Simplified server.
Bulk archive, trash, and mark-read or mark-unread send label changes to Google so they apply in Gmail. Trash moves mail to Gmail Trash. Current builds do not permanently delete Gmail messages from Google's servers.
Sharing, transfer, and disclosure
We do not sell your personal information or Google user data.
We do not share, transfer, or disclose Google user data to third parties, advertisers, analytics providers, or an Intelligence Simplified mail backend.
Google user data is processed on your device. It is sent only to Google's Gmail API and Google sign-in, and only for the actions you request, such as sign-in, reading a thread you open, and label changes such as archive, trash, or read state.
We do not use Google Workspace data or other Google user data to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
We do not use third-party advertising networks or ad trackers in the app. We do not operate a Hamata mail backend that receives or stores your messages.
Google limited use
Google's handling of your Google Account and Gmail is governed by Google's own terms and privacy policies. Hamata's use of Gmail APIs is subject to Google's Limited Use requirements for restricted scopes. Signing in with Google does not create an account with Intelligence Simplified.
Retention and deletion
- Use Disconnect in Hamata to remove the Google session from the app and wipe Hamata's local header and body index on that device. See how to delete the on-device index.
- Uninstalling Hamata also removes the app's local storage on that device.
- Disconnecting or uninstalling does not delete your Gmail mailbox at Google. Manage or delete mail in Gmail if that is what you want. You can also revoke Hamata's access in your Google Account security settings at any time.
Children
Hamata is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
In short
Hamata asks for one Gmail permission, gmail.modify, plus the OpenID email and profile scopes used for sign-in. It does not request full Gmail access (https://mail.google.com/). Hamata syncs your mail from the Gmail API directly to your phone, and the index and message content it downloads are stored only on that device. Hamata can mark mail read or unread, archive it, and move it to Gmail Trash. It does not permanently delete messages and it does not send email. Intelligence Simplified keeps no server copies of your email, metadata, or tokens, and we do not share Google user data with third parties. Hamata's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
